The bye week couldn’t have come soon enough for Florida State. After a 4-0 start, the Seminoles needed the reset with them going 0-3 since the start of October. For Jordan Travis, he says he took full advantage of the extra time.

Travis spoke about how he spent his bye week during media on Wednesday at Florida State’s practice. He said he took a trip with some teammates and it helped him hit the reset button following seven straight weeks of football.

“Just reset and refresh. I feel like that’s important. I went to Orlando with a couple of teammates just to get away from Tallahassee for a few. It was really effective,” said Travis. “I needed it pretty bad. I came back this week and I’m fresh and ready to go.”

The Seminole QB has taken a big step forward this year with a career-high 1,661 yards to go with 11 touchdowns on a 61.6% completion rate. Things have crumbled in Tallahassee from a team aspect, though, with the Seminole’s ranked losses to Wake Forest, NC State, and Clemson.

That’s why Travis used the bye week to really unwind. By getting away out on the water, he says he was able to refocus and, considering its effects, it was imperative for him and his team.

“Y’all know I fish every chance I get. I just get out there. I feel like that’s the most important thing for me. Just getting out there,” Travis said. “Sometimes I’m out there just thinking about football, thinking about the game plan for the week. Just getting away. Everyone does it in different ways but I feel like it’s very important.”

With five games left, Florida State needs two more wins to reach their first bowl since Mike Norvell took over. This reboot will hopefully get Travis and the Seminoles back on track to doing so as they prepare to return to action against Georgia Tech on Saturday.
