Jordan Travis shares message for fellow quarterbacks ahead of ACC Championship Game
Florida State will go into the ACC Championship Game against Louisville scrambling at quarterback following the injury to star Jordan Travis two weeks ago.
Backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker led the Seminoles to a win over the rival Florida Gators last week, but he took a hard hit and suffered a concussion. His potential availability is reportedly “50-50” for gametime.
If he can’t go, it’ll be third-stringer Brock Glenn that takes over. But Jordan Travis has seen enough of both to feel comfortable.
“Those are my best friends,” Travis said. “I talk to them every single day. Texted both of them last night. Just let them know I can’t wait to watch them go out and perform. I know who they are and what type of players they are and how much they want to win.”
In the two games since Travis’ injury, Rodemaker has gone 25-of-48 passing for 351 yards and two touchdowns. He hasn’t thrown an interception.
Glenn, on the other hand, has thrown only four passes this season.
Regardless, Travis is confident in both because of what he’s seen from them in practice and in the film room.
“That’s the biggest thing about this quarterback room, we always talk about winning, being a leader, the toughness,” Jordan Travis said. “And those guys do a great job with that, so I have all the faith in the world in them. Bunch of guys that are just, they’ve been waiting for their opportunity, man. And I’ve been waiting to watch them succeed.

“At the end of the day I wish I could be out there with the guys, but God has a different plan for me. But yeah, man, I’m ready to see whoever goes out there today just go out there and ball, because I know who they are. “
There’s one other factor that could lead to tremendous success for whichever one suits on up Saturday night.
“At the end of the day, man, I didn’t have to do too much when you have Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, Trey Benson; I could go on and on about all the guys on this football team,” Jordan Travis said. “It makes your job easy. Just give those guys a chance, don’t try to do too much and just be you.”
That’s certainly not a bad trio to be able to rely on.
Benson has rushed for 838 yards and 14 touchdowns, while Coleman has 639 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns and Wilson has 596 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Will that be enough to top Louisville with a backup quarterback. Time will tell.
Florida State and Louisville are set to kick off at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
