Jordan Travis releases message after 'successful' surgery
Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis’ surgery was “successful,” he shared on social media Tuesday night. He will now begin his recovery process as the Seminoles get ready for the ACC Championship.
“Surgery was very successful,” Travis wrote. “Thank you for all the prayers and love. All part of God’s Plan.”
Travis suffered a tough, season-ending injury in Florida State’s victory over North Alabama two weeks ago and will miss the rest of the season as a result. A first team All-ACC selection, he was looking to make a case for the Heisman Trophy after leading the Seminoles to an undefeated record.
Jordan Travis has been one of the leaders for Florida State over the last few years and was having an impressive season before his injury. In 11 games, he threw for 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions as FSU had a perfect 11-0 record in games he started.

After his injury, the Seminoles and coach Mike Norvell were clearly emotional as Travis was carted off the field. However, Travis kept his composure and wanted to make sure everyone knew he’d be alright. That’s what stood out to Norvell, who also got emotional recounting the events of the night.
“He was remarkable. His composure on the field, in pain, all the things. He just kept telling me, ‘Coach, I’m good. I’m good. Tell my mom I’m okay and I’m good,’ and as he got up and both teams came out there to wish him well in his recovery. He’s had a great mindset throughout this with incredibly difficult circumstance but you felt for him,” Norvell said.
“I told our team afterward and I said in the postgame, when you’re in that game and you’re playing an opponent you’re better than, and you have all the ‘shoulds’ of what should happen. What it should look like, and you find yourself behind and you find yourself behind and then you find yourself with an unbelievable amount of adversity and just the mental state, and any of our players that were there on the field, it shook a couple of them. It takes a little bit of time just to kind of regather yourself, and I know Corey asked me afterwards, how do you block it out. You don’t block it out. Not on this team. Not being a part of who we are and what we’re about. You can’t just say, hey, it’s just next man up. That’s not real here. You care about every one of them.”
