Florida State red-shirt junior defensive lineman Joshua Farmer is expected to play a significant role in the Seminoles’ defensive success in 2024 after being one of their top defensive linemen last season. However, Farmer is working his way back from an injury.

While participating in this year’s ACC Football Media Days, the Seminoles star defender provided an update on his injury timetable while revealing the type of injury that kept him sidelined for much of spring practice.

“I feel very good,” said Farmer. “It was just my hand. Nothing was wrong with my legs. I ran and did everything. I feel good, better than ever. I’m in the best shape of my life. I just feel great.

“Everything happen for a reason, so it’s no needs to beat myself up about it or nothing like that. I feel good.”

It has been an intriguing offseason for Farmer and the Seminoles. Shortly after Florida State was not selected to be part of the field of four in last year’s college football playoffs, Farmer opted to enter the NCAA transfer portal, only to reverse track and remain at the program as he did the off-season prior. After returning to Florida State, while participating in spring practices, the redshirt junior suffered an undisclosed injury (at the time), subsequently missing the remainder of spring practices.

At the time of his injury, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell announced that Farmer, along with offensive tackle Robert Scott, would be returning to on-the-field activities by the time summer workouts roll around. And according to Farmer, it appears as if his head coach was right on the money, as the defensive star standout is feeling good and ready to go for 2024.

Norvell responds to Greg Sankey’s comments regarding Georgia, Florida State, College Football Playoff

Norvell caught wind of Greg Sankey’s comments at SEC Media Days regarding Georgia, Florida State, and the College Football Playoff.

Both schools missed the CFP last season, but there was an outcry from Tallahassee it seemed. Considering the Seminoles were ACC champions and were undefeated, they had a case.

Norvell was asked about Sankey’s words, which included that the SEC “didn’t fly banners over places” after Georgia missed the CFP.

“I don’t disagree that Georgia was one of the top four teams if you’re judging off talent and ability but they also earned their loss,” Norvell said at ACC Media Days. “That was part of the result of what happened on the field. When you look at our team and what it was, we controlled the things we could control, we unfortunately had an injury, but we had a team that responded to it.
