Dealing with Oklahoma is a challenge unlike any other in college softball. Florida State learned that the hard way as they lost both matchups to OU as the Sooners completed the second three-peat in the history of the sport.

Following the loss, Seminole pitcher Kathryn Sandercock has nothing but high praise for the challenge that Oklahoma provided her and her team in Oklahoma City. They battled with her in both matchups and, as a competitor, it was something that she appreciated.

“(An) incredible lineup. Great team,” Sandercock said. “It’s tough.”

“I mean they’re tough outs. They keep you on your toes the entire time, which is great. For me as an athlete, like, I’m very competitive and I’ve always wanted to put my skills to the test,” continued Sandercock. “Being able to put that to the test against one of the hardest lineups in college softball was such a fun challenge.”

Overall, Oklahoma won the two games by a combined score of 8-1. The pair of victories were the final pieces of the Sooner’s historic season as they went 61-1 during the year for the best winning percentage in college softball’s history.

With that kind of mountain to climb, Sandercock is proud of the battle that she felt that Florida State did give OU. It obviously wasn’t perfect but, considering all things, she valued the opportunity to go up against the best.

“I gave up a couple solo shots, they got another run across. They’re a good ball club. It’s tough to face them,” said Sandercock. “But I’m really proud of myself and really proud of the team, just what we were able to do today, the fight we showed, how we stayed in it, stayed in it. That’s what we’ve been saying all season long, stay in it.

“It’s challenging but it’s what you want as an athlete,” Sandercock said.
