Florida State star receiver Keon Coleman just made one of the best catches of Week 1 of the 2023 college football season against LSU. He made an acrobatic 21-yard touchdown grab against the Tigers late in the second quarter. At the beginning of the third quarter, ESPN’s Holly Rowe confirmed that Coleman was cramping up after the touchdown catch.
He was seen gingerly walking off to the sideline. The star receiver made his way into the Florida State locker room early before his teammates, to get treatment for the cramping issues.
Here is the touchdown catch below.
The touchdown catch tied the game up at 14-14 late in the second quarter, but LSU ended up driving down for a field goal to go up 17-14 heading into the locker room at halftime. It was Coleman’s second touchdown catch of the night.
After halftime, Holly Rowe said Coleman was seen walking out the FSU locker room drinking gatorade and eating a bag of pretzels to help him with the cramps.
Keon Coleman hauled in another touchdown catch
Earlier in the first half, he hauled in his first touchdown catch in a Florida State uniform.
Just inside LSU territory, Coleman lined up out wide left and ran a simple slant. He caught the pass from quarterback Jordan Travis, slipped inside a defender and then outraced another to the end zone for a 40-yard touchdown.
Coleman was one of the prized gets out of the transfer portal this offseason, hailing from Michigan State.
Florida State’s scoring drive came despite a setback that might have killed the drive, an offensive pass interference penalty that backed them up to first-and-25 from inside their own territory.

A big run by Trey Benson picked up 12 yards, then Travis converted a third-and-13 moments later on a pass to receiver Johnny Wilson — the culprit of the offensive pass interference call — that went for 17 yards.
Travis was excellent on the opening drive, though he didn’t take off past the line of scrimmage with his legs.
He was able to go 5-of-7 passing for 87 yards with a touchdown on the drive, a commanding showing that will put Florida State in the driver’s seat early on.
But LSU answered quickly, with a 33-yard reception by Kyren Lacy putting the Tigers down to the 1-yard line, where running back Tre Bradford plunged in to tie the game at 7-7 with 3:48 to play in the first quarter.
