5-star S KJ Bolden visits Florida State
Buford (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ safety KJ Bolden arrived on campus at Florida State Monday for another visit. The visit to Tallahassee is the four for Bolden who rescheduled his March 23 visit.
Bolden is the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Georgia.
The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder holds offers from several Power Five programs and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Georgia with a narrow lead over Clemson and Ohio State to land his commitment.
Georgia may have the lead for Bolden according to the RPM but Florida State has always held a special place in Bolden’s heart.
“Florida State has been my dream school since I started playing flag football at 4 years old,” Bolden told Warchant. “I like Coach (Mike) Norvell and everything he stands for. Coach Norvell has turned this program around when everyone doubted him.”
He also noted that on this visit he was looking forward to spending time with the coaches and building new relationships with them. Bolden told On3 he was also looking forward to watching practice to get a feel for how the program operates on the field.
Florida State offensive coordinator Alex Atkins began recruiting Bolden during his freshman year. Lately though its been Seminoles secondary coach Patrick Surtain who Bolden has been talking to on a constant basis.

“I talk to Coach Surtain and Atkins the most,” Bolden said before the visit. “I’m speaking with them weekly and have a great relationship. I am waiting to get to FSU Monday to check out practice and watch the DBs and how they operate under Coach Surtain.”
Florida State’s 2024 recruiting class
A commitment from Bolden would be a massive win for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles. Florida State has not signed a five-star prospect since Cam Akers in 2017.
Following a successful 2022 season on the field and signing a top-20 2023 recruiting class, Florida State’s off to a fast start in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The Seminoles have eight commitments so far as they rank as the No. 8 class in the country and the No. 1 class in the ACC.
