Georgia 5-star TE commit Landen Thomas visiting Florida State

Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County five-star tight end and Georgia commit Landen Thomas is visiting Florida State today. Warchant reported Thomas being on campus in Tallahassee.
Thomas was originally pledged to the Seminoles and decommitted from the program in Oct. 2021. Meanwhile, he chose the Bulldogs on July 7.
Thomas is the No. 20 overall prospect and No. 1 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in Georgia.
Florida State is working hard to get Thomas’ pledge back. The Seminoles are also doing well on the recruiting trail, as their 2024 recruiting class is No. 8 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the ACC.
Florida State’s class is led by Albany (Ga.) Dougherty four-star running back Kameron Davis, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star safety Jordan Pride and Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek. All three players are top-115 prospects in the On3 Industry Ranking.

“He always loved FSU and what FSU covets with him is he’s just an elite playmaker,” Michael Langston of Warchant said about Thomas. “I’ve watched him in person two or three times. He’s like a big receiver out there, he’s a big playmaker… I think they really want to mold a really explosive unit towards the tight end position and I think Landen is really high on that list. He is so valuable because there’s not a lot of tight ends that you consider elite. There’s very few and I think Landen falls in that category for them.”

Thomas is a leader of Georgia’s 2024 class
Meanwhile, the 6-foot-4, 238-pound recruit is one of the top prospects in the Bulldogs’ 2024 recruiting class. Georgia’s group is currently No. 1 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Only one Bulldogs pledge is ranked ahead of Thomas: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. He is the No. 4 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the 2024 On300.
Thomas and Robinson IV are two of Georgia’s eight top-100 commits. The others are Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County School four-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star safety Peyton Woodyard, Rockledge (Fla.) four-star safety Jaylen Heyward, Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County four-star wide receiver Ny Carr, Mableton (Ga.) Pebblebrook four-star running back Dwight Phillips and Swainsboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Demello Jones.
