No. 8 seed Florida State hosts the unlikely winners of the Normal Regional, the UConn Huskies this weekend in the Tallahassee Super Regional

Ahead of the best of three series, Seminoles head coach Link Jarrett named Carson Dorsey and Jamie Arnold as FSU’s starting pitchers for games one and two. Jarrett has high hopes for the duo this series.

“Both of those guys are going to have to pitch and both of those guys need they need to pitch well,” Jarrett said ahead of this weekend’s series. “So on what day [their start] is, it seemed to be determined almost by the length of what they did last week. Giving them the normal schedule of time to do their work with Micah, to do their lifts and to stay on course.

“But they both need to pitch well and there’s going to be a lot of guys in that bullpen that are going to have to pitch well to try to get through this”

Dorsey pitched the regional opener against Stetson last Friday, pitching 8.2 innings where he recorded seven strikeouts while letting up nine hits. He would only allow on earned run during his outing. For Arnold, he finished 7.0 innings of work with a strong 12-strikeout performance against UCF.

A sweep of the Huskies at home would not only keep the Seminoles’ pitching staff fresh — but it saves them from playing an extra game while sending Florida State to Omaha for the Men’s College World Series at the same time.

“Clearly we’ve talked about Dorsey and Arnold and then we’ll figure out the third game,” Jarrett continued. “Everybody stays on track. Their rest ,clearly those two starters worked long and hard last weekend and it just made sense. Both of them need to pitch and both of them have to pitch really well. So whatever order it is, it seemed to line up properly to let everybody stay on track and keep it exactly how it was last week.”

If the pitching schedule stays on track, Dorsey would get the nod to begin the outing, while Arnold would take game two. For game three, if necessary, Connor Hults and Conner Whittaker pitched the majority (7.0 IP) of the regional final.

The pitch of this weekend’s Tallahassee Super Regional between the Seminoles and Huskies is scheduled for Friday at Noon ET. It will air live on ESPN and the ESPN app.
