With Florida State competing in the ACC Tournament this weekend, the postseason has arrived, and FSU coach Link Jarrett is adamant his club belongs as a top-eight seed.

When asked about whether Florida State had accomplished enough this season, regardless of the ACC Tournament outcome, to earn one of those seeds, Jarrett was quick to exude confidence, citing FSU’s schedule as a main reason why.

“Absolutely,” he answered on the basis of Florida State earning a top-eight super regional host seed.

“The schedule in the middle of the week — I would encourage anybody that has any questions about this to roll down there and sit through some of those Tuesdays that we have,” he explained, noting some of the non-conference competition.

“Three of them with the (Florida) Gators and Stetson twice and Mercer and Jacksonville three times and Florida Gulf Coast. It just keeps coming at you. There’s no breathing room, it’s not easy and that taxes your team and your bullpen.

“Because when you come out of a series on Sunday, and you look at what you’re dealing with on Tuesday and there’s 15,000 people waiting on you in these rivalry games, you have to deliver. And then you go right back into these environments playing the Clemsons and the Virginas and the ACC teams.”

To battle through that tough of a schedule, and still win 40 games, is pretty impressive. Link Jarrett believes the reward ought to be one of those coveted top eight seeds.

“Like, it’s not easy. To be in that conversation, you need to have done that from the start of the season to this point, and these guys have done that. Those games are challenging and difficult and when you stack them with the demand to win in this league, few people can understand what that’s like to have to manage those midweeks mixed with this. These guys have done more than enough.”
