Things got a bit out of hand in Saturday evening’s baseball game between Florida State and Miami. Video emerged on X of what was allegedly a Hurricanes player throwing a ball toward the Seminoles dugout that nearly hit pitcher Andrew Armstrong.

Several Florida State players emerged from the dugout in protest and McGwire Holbrook was even ejected as a result. You can view video of the incident below.

Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the ball being thrown toward the dugout. Florida State entered the top of the ninth with a 6-3 advantage and allowed only one run to go on to win 6-4. Miami had runners on first and second when Lorenzo Carrier lined out to the shortstop to end the game.

The victory completed a series sweep for the Seminoles, who also won Thursday and Friday. They improved to 30-5 (10-5 ACC) on the season.

Florida State got off to a quick start and led 5-1 by the end of the third inning. The Seminoles used a two-run homer from Cam Smith in the third to earn their largest lead of the game. Smith finished tied for the team high with two hits along with James Tibbs III and Max Williams.

With the win Saturday, Florida State completed a season sweep of both Miami and Florida for the first time since 1960.The Seminoles beat Florida on Tuesday night, 19-4, to finish off a three-game sweep of the Gators. They then followed that up with three wins over the Hurricanes at Howser Stadium, which witnessed the most attended three-game series in program history.

Armstrong got the win on the day after pitching 4.1 innings to allow three hits and one run. Connor Hults came into the game and got a save on just one pitch as shortstop Alex Lodise snared a rocket-shot liner to end the game. And the series.

It was a perfect 4-0 week for the Seminoles. All four coming against their archest of arch rivals.

“This team has responded better than any team I’ve ever been around,” Jarrett said. “That’s what stands out the most to me about walking into today after this game, is just their response to everything that’s been thrown at them. …

“And I was so excited for our fans to get to see four games like this. I think that was the most people that have ever been to a three-game series in program history at this stadium. And you want to deliver. Everybody came out for this, and more would have been here if we could have accommodated. And our guys delivered.”

Florida State is next set to face Mercer on Tuesday at home.
