4-star athlete Micahi Danzy commits to Florida State: 'Coach Norvell has the team going in the right direction'
Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida State Univ. School four-star athlete Micahi Danzy’s love for Florida State isn’t something that just started. Growing up not far from the school, he grew up a fan of the Seminoles and that love only grew when he picked up an offer from them last June.
Since then he’s stayed in constant with the coaches, taken multiple visits and started to really get the sense that staying home might be the way he goes.
That became a reality on Saturday as Danzy announced his commitment to Florida State choosing the Seminoles over Florida and LSU.
“I really made my decision back in the spring,” Danzy told On3. “I was there for my official visit in June and I camped there in June too, but the visit before that in the spring is when I knew for sure it was Florida State. It was just a feeling I had.
Having the opportunity to stay close to home isn’t something Danzy said played a major factor in his decision to commit to Florida State. The biggest factor for him was finding the right coach and how they recruited.
It was Mike Norvell and his staff that ultimately did the best job of staying in touch with Danzy since they extended their offer.
“How they played last season showed me something,” said Danzy, the No. 155 player in the 2024 On300. They really improved a lot and Coach (Mike) Norvell has the team going in the right direction. That’s when I really started to get interested in them.

“The season they had moved them up to the top for me they have been there since.”
Florida State looking at Danzy for an offensive role
Danzy’s showcased his skills to excel on both sides of the ball. While most of the schools recruiting him view Danzy more as a safety, Florida State sees him more as a running back.
That interest of playing as a running back is something that Danzy really appreciated.
“Coach David Johnson is my guy,” Johnson said. “We have a great relationship and he always checks on me. He used to be a high school coach, so he understands how to coach, communicate and teach. I know he will work you and get on you, but he will not apply a lot of pressure.”
The energy he’s seen from Norvell is something that also stood out to Danzy each of the times he’s visited campus.
“He’s always yelling and running around with energy,” Danzy said. “I love it and am all for it. I think he can get the team back.
“They got so much better last season and I can see them making the playoffs this season. Coach Norvell is doing a great job and I can’t wait to play for him.”
