The Florida State Seminoles have a commanding lead at home against the Boston College Golden Eagles. At halftime, Florida State is leading 31-0. The Seminoles have put together a complete team performance dominating on offense, defense, and special teams. At halftime, Florida State’s head coach Mike Norvell had this to say about his team’s performance in the first two quarters.

“Well, we gotta finish some drives off. We moved the ball really well, but we got down and had a couple of miscues on third down,” said Norvell. “Ultimately, I really like the way our guys are playing on offense, defense, and special teams. We want a complete game, and that is something we challenge our guys with. We got 30 more minutes to come out and play some more good football.”

Florida State’s defense has controlled Boston College’s offense keeping them in check the entire first half. The Golden Eagles have 64 yards of total offense in the first half and are a pedestrian 1-7 on 3rd down conversions. Offensively the Seminoles have 327 yards of total offense with 249 yards coming through the air. And on special teams, they started off the game running back the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

The Seminoles are just one half away from starting the season 4-0, something they have not been able to do since Jimbo Fisher’s 2015 team.

Florida State strikes first against Boston College, returning opening kick for six

The Seminoles wasted no time in their ACC matchup against Boston College getting on the board. The Seminoles took the opening kickoff and returned it for the first score of the game.

Boston College won the coin toss to start the game and elected to defer, which now looks like a mistake on the team’s behalf. Florida states offseason transfer portal acquisition running back Trey Benson received the kick at the 7-yard line and shot straight upfield. He bounces the run to the left sideline breaking a few tackles in the process. Once Benson gets to the outside, the race to the end zone is on. One tackler attempts to trip Benson up, but he’s able to high-steps over the defenders’ arms and keeps running. And to finish off the impressive kickoff return, he delivers a stiff arm to the last Boston College defender as he makes his way into the end zone for six.
