Florida State has gotten out to a hot start for the first time in a long time in 2022. Now in his third season, Mike Norvell failed to have a winning season in his first two years. However, at 4-0, Norvell has led the Seminoles to the best record they’ve had to start a season since 2015. It’s also in stark contrast to 2021’s 0-4 start. Much of that success has been due to a rejuvenated offense.

While speaking to the media, Mike Norvell was asked about the offense spreading the ball around the field. He was asked if this had more to do with scheme or talent.

“I think the offense is built to showcase the talents of the guys that we have, and we’ve got a lot of talented players,” Mike Norvell said.

“Ultimately, you know, defenses are going to have their plans of what they want to do and each play is its own play. You know, we pride ourselves on being able to create match-ups, but also it’s one of those things that our guys–they’re battling, and we’ve been able to create some opportunities just by the way that they’re playing,” Mike Norvell explained.

“I mean, I like what we’re doing. We’ll continue to get better.”

Florida State faces a major challenge on Saturday, as they host Wake Forest. It will be the first game between two top-25 teams at Doak Campbell Stadium since Florida State hosted Virginia Tech in Week 1 of the 2018 season. That was Willie Taggart’s first game. After that, Florida State plays NC State and Clemson in a stretch that could define the team’s season.
