On Tuesday, Mike Norvell confirmed that quarterback DJ Uiagalelei will be unavailable against Clemson on Saturday. FSU sophomore Brock Glenn is expected to start in Uiagalelei’s place. After practice Tuesday, Norvell evaluated Glenn’s performance.

“I thought it was good,” Norvell said. “Obviously, there’s some things we’re looking at; different schemes, different elements that we might face. It’s about making sure that our eyes are in the right place so we can play fast, we can obviously execute quickly.

“I thought he made some good decisions. I thought he made some things that we’ll be able to go back and correct on film. Same with Luke [Kromenhoek]. You’ll hear it’s the first day of installation and the things that we’re doing for this week’s plan. All in all, solid day and I thought those guys worked hard.”

Despite Florida State’s struggles, Glenn hasn’t found much time on the field this season. The only four pass attempts he’s recorded this season all came in FSU’s loss to SMU on Saturday and he failed to complete any of them.

Nonetheless, Florida State listed Glenn and Uiagalelei as co-starters on Monday — the first time they have done so this season. With Uiagalelei’s diagnosis of a broken finger, Glenn will be the Seminoles’ sole QB1 this weekend.

Norvell revealed how he’s seen the QB grow since last year.

“Understanding [and] anticipation,” Norvell said. “But still even with anticipation, trust with your eyes. Trust what you see. To be able to go through what you anticipate to happen and then not guess. And that’s where I think Brock is very smart. Him, Luke, and that quarterback room is a very smart room.

“It’s about trusting the timing, the technique, the fundamentals because there’s times that you might see it and you might anticipate what’s happening but if you’re almost too quick in your timing, it takes time for the receiver to get the spot or for things to happen and I think that’s one of the areas I’ve seen him grow.”

Brock Glenn isn’t Florida State’s only option outside of Uiagalelei. The team could also turned to freshman QB Luke Kromenhoek, if necessary. Kromenhoek was the No. 4 QB in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

“I’ve been really pleased how both of those guys have prepared each and every week leading up because you never know when that opportunity is going to present itself. Obviously, the door is open now and I’m excited to see them go through it.”

On Saturday, the Seminoles will face off against No. 15 Clemson at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN.
