Going into the final week of the regular season, Mike Norvell can do something that he has never done as the Florida State head coach. He can beat the Florida Gators. However, if he wants to beat the Gators, Norvell will need to find a way to stop quarterback Anthony Richardson.

While speaking to the media, Mike Norvell gave his thoughts on the Gators quarterback.

“He’s a special athlete,” Mike Norvell said. “I mean, you see that. I mean, his arm strength, his mobility, just his overall strength, I mean, we played him last year and we know the challenge that he brings to this game.”

“And he’s played really well at a lot of times this year. I mean, throwing the football. I think they’re coming off a game, think [he] threw for 400-something yards last week. So, he is a talented quarterback,” Mike Norvell said.

“When he has to use his legs, and he does that, you better come with everything you got because he’s a big, tough player. So, he’s a talented player and he definitely presents his own, unique challenges.”

In the 2021 game, Anthony Richardson split snaps against Florida State with Emory Jones. He threw for a touchdown and 55 yards. He also ran for another 27 then. In the 2022 game, he’s going to be the best threat Florida has on offense.

Anthony Richardson called his shot against Florida State

Going into this game, Anthony Richardson says that the Gators aren’t really focused on their opponent. Instead, their focus is on the gameplan as they work toward building momentum.

“A lot of people are disappointed, but it comes with the sport, you win some you lose some even though we don’t want to lose. It happens if you’re not on top of your A-game, so things like that happen,” Anthony Richardson said.

“But momentum is always something that we try to work towards, always try to put something in our favor when it comes to momentum and we try to win every game. So we’re not really focused on who we’re playing because that can really alter your mind, the way you’re thinking about when it comes to the game plan and stuff like that.”
