Mike Norvell recognizes this weekend’s game against LSU will show the world how far along his Florida State Seminoles are.

It’s perhaps the biggest singular game of Norvell’s tenure at Florida State thus far, and will set the tone for the remainder of the season. Evidently, the the Seminoles coach believes his team is ready, as he explained while speaking to the media.

“Each week provides an opportunity to see growth, and that’s what I love about football. Each week, you have to go out there and be your best. That is the objective. You’re either going to accomplish that or you’re not. If you’re not, then that is exactly where you are. If you are, then you have progressed and accomplished the objective of improvement. That’s what we have to do,” stated Norvell. “To be able to play in a spotlight game, it’s great. I want the word to see what I get to coach, the young men I get to coach. These guys, they work really hard. I just want them to be their best in the moment. That’s what we’re pushing for, that’s what we’re striving for so yeah, we will get a real glimpse of where we are come Sunday night. What does that mean for the rest of the season? It’s a step in front of us. Because you can have any result and it can go, what goes on behind that is based off of how you respond to the result.

“But I can tell you, our guys are working hard, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”

Moreover, the Seminoles are coming off of a huge victory over Duquesne in Week 0, where their offense showed to be palpable.

Three separate players compiled more than 100 yards on the ground on Saturday. Treshaun Ward (14 rushes, 127 yards, 2 TD), Trey Benson (11 rushes, 105 yards, 1 TD) and Lawrence Toafili (13 rushes, 101 yards, 1 TD) all staked their claim as regular fixtures of the FSU running back room.

Quarterback Jordan Travis also showed improvements in year two as the Seminoles’ starter, completing 11 of 15 passes for 207 yards. Additionally, he rushed the ball four times for eleven yards and a touchdown.

Now, it’s time for Mike Norvell to coach his team to victory against a premier institution in LSU, which would go a long way towards maintaining his job security in 2022.
