Mike Norvell gets emotional while describing the loss of QB Jordan Travis
Saturday night was star quarterback Jordan Travis’ final game in Doak Campbell Stadium. Unfortunately, he suffered a gruesome leg injury in the first quarter of Florida State’s game against North Alabama.
He had to be carted off the field, put in an ambulance, and taken to the hospital. Following the game, FSU head coach Mike Norvell was visibly emotional as he was talking about losing Travis on Senior Day.
“I like to say you block it out. You don’t.” Norvell began. “Coming in, we knew this was Jordan Travis’ last game at Doak Campbell Stadium. I wanted to see him have a special game, special experience, you know. And for anytime somebody gets hurt, it hurt. I mean, it’s painful to see. It’s painful to have to go through.
“And I mean, you just want so bad for that kid. He does everything right. He really just is a special, special young man. I can’t say that I did block it out. You go and you coach and you do everything just like I said earlier, for the players that are out there on the field. I owe it to them, too. But it doesn’t lessen anything of the impact of when you said, any player that goes down. I mean, it’s hard. Because this is a game that these guys, they put so much into,” Norvell finished.
Jameis Winston shared a touching message for Jordan Travis
FSU legend Jameis Winston was on the sidelines and shortly after the injury to Travis, he shared a touching message for him to the CW broadcast crew.
“Well, I just want to continue to encourage him to stay resilient and continue to persevere,” said Winston. “He was having one of the best years ever in college football and I’m grateful to be rocking his jersey.
“The significance of his number, with us winning the championship in 2013 and him being one of the best quarterbacks this year. Man, I just want to continue to lift him up. Keep your head [up] bro. Stand firm. Be strong, courageous.

“The Lord has a plan for you that nobody can ever even imagine. So, just stay resilient. He has done that. So, I know to him and his family. I just wanna pray for his family. He’s gonna be fine. I know he will.”
Travis has been the driving force behind Florida State’s undefeated season. Losing him would obviously be a massive loss. Once he left the game, backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker got the majority of the reps on Saturday night, but third stringer Brock Glenn came in to score a touchdown when the game was well in hand.
Jameis Winston honored the current Florida State quarterback
Former Florida State star quarterback Jameis Winston was the guest of honor for Saturday night’s contest against North Alabama. But upon his arrival, Winston was showing some love to the Seminoles’ current star signal caller, Jordan Travis.
Week 12’s game against North Alabama was Florida State’s final home game of the season. It also served as Senior Day for the Seminoles’ departing players. Not only that, but the Florida State athletic department decided to honor Winston Saturday night, retiring his jersey, making this weekend a special occasion for Seminoles fans and players of both the past and present.
To celebrate the present, Winston showed up wearing Travis’s jersey, supporting the quarterback, who has a chance to join him as a national champion by the end of this season.
