Mike Norvell gives honest response on frustration: ‘We are putting everything we have’ into success
1-9 overall is not where Florida State ever expected to be this season. It’s only that much more frustrating, though, with what Mike Norvell and the Seminoles have been putting into it to fix it to this point.
Norvell reflected on how they’re all feeling at FSU following their 52-3 loss at Notre Dame on Saturday. They’re as upset as they all are because of what they’re doing for each game yet they’re still not seeing different results.
“You pour everything into one opportunity,” said Norvell. “You know, I care about these players and making sure that I’m meeting them at their need for growth.”
“This is – it’s hard. It’s hard on them, it’s hard on our fanbase. It’s hard on our program, administration, everybody. Like, we are putting everything that we have into going and to have a positive result, outcome, and, you know, what I want these players to experience, what I want for our football program,” Norvell said. “So, you know, every moment, I’m thinking about that. I’ve been thinking about it for the last five years that I’ve been here and that’s not going to change.”
Again, Norvell says its a constant feeling with him and his team. They’re all looking for anything to hold onto before, during, or after each game. It’s just not getting any better, though, as they’re now lost six straight, including this most recent one by their biggest deficit yet of the season in South Bend.

“I mean, it’s all – I mean, every moment, I’m thinking about where we need to get better. What we need to do, what we need to improve upon. You know, through the course of a game? I want to see improvement through the course of the game. After the game, you think about the results. You know, obviously, the way that the season has gone, the result of what I’m feeling right now,” said Norvell. “I mean, it’s immediate that I have the same emotion, the same reaction.”
We’re all well aware of how short that Florida State has come from what many thought they’d be this fall. Still, with two games left to go at home after their second bye, they’ll do what they can to try and mend some of it to finish the season.
“You know, we have not been anywhere near the expectation that we have of, you know, what we thought would be coming in. Then, you know, some of the circumstances that have showed up have made it even that much more challenging for us,” said Norvell. “But, I mean, I think about it all the time in everything that I’m doing.”
