Mike Norvell gives initial update on Jordan Travis leg injury
The Florida State Seminoles suffered a massive loss in the first half of their game against North Alabama on Saturday night, as star quarterback Jordan Travis went down with a very serious injury to his left leg. Travis was eventually carted off the field, loaded into the ambulance, and taken to the hospital. Heading into the locker room at half, FSU head coach Mike Norvell gave an initial update on his signal-caller.
“I was proud of how they responded there in the second quarter,” said Norvell. “Obviously, not the start that we wanted. Obviously, our thoughts are with Jordan right now with him going down.
“I was proud of how our guys fought back and obviously, got the lead. And now we get to go into the second half. Gotta play 30 minutes and just play clean Seminole football.”
What could he tell us about Jordan Travis’ current condition?
“I don’t have any update, but obviously, it didn’t look good. But, we’ll see where it is and obviously, go from there,” Norvell said on Saturday night.
Florida State ended up winning the game, 58-13, after a sluggish start. The Seminoles trailed 13-0 after the first quarter, but outscored NAU 58-0 in the final three quarters.

Mike Norvell was emotional about Travis in the postgame
Following the game, FSU head coach Mike Norvell was visibly emotional as he was talking about losing Travis on Senior Day.
“I like to say you block it out. You don’t.” Norvell began. “Coming in, we knew this was Jordan Travis’ last game at Doak Campbell Stadium. I wanted to see him have a special game, special experience, you know. And for anytime somebody gets hurt, it hurt. I mean, it’s painful to see. It’s painful to have to go through.
“And I mean, you just want so bad for that kid. He does everything right. He really just is a special, special young man. I can’t say that I did block it out. You go and you coach and you do everything just like I said earlier, for the players that are out there on the field. I owe it to them, too. But it doesn’t lessen anything of the impact of when you said, any player that goes down. I mean, it’s hard. Because this is a game that these guys, they put so much into,” Norvell finished.
Next up, Florida State will take on the Florida Gators on Saturday, Nov. 25th. Then they’ll take on the Louisville Cardinals in the 2023 ACC Championship Game.
