Mike Norvell says Jordan Travis' confidence is 'really impressive'
Jordan Travis has plenty of confidence under center, according to Florida State head coach Mike Norvell.
Travis opted to come back to Florida State and is definitely in the early Heisman race for the 2023 season. If he plays at his peak, the Seminoles are a bonafide ACC contender.
Norvell didn’t hold back his praise of Travis in spring practice.
“He’s obviously got a great perspective,” Norvell said. “As in real time, you know, with everything firing at him. And I think just the confidence in what he sees is really impressive. There’s times that we have, what matters is what he sees. And I can see in a variety of different ways and there’s sometimes those open conversations of what we’re doing and how we can maybe have a tweak here or tweak there. But yeah, that’s the fun of this offense is there’s a lot of variations, a lot of things that ties to each quarterback and you know, I mean, I love where his eyes are. He sees it so very well.
“But, you know, he also has that experience and confidence and if he thinks he can take it to another level in maybe the read or progression, those things I’m always gonna listen to. Especially this time of the year, maybe give a little freedom and explore some new things. You know, it’s definitely been fun.”

Travis threw for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 64% completion percentage. He added 417 yards on the ground and seven rushing touchdowns.
After Travis’ season on the field last year that helped Florida State go 10-3 and finish No. 11 in the AP Poll, Norvell received a contract extension. It’s safe to say there are big expectations in Travis’ final year on campus.
“He’s been practicing at an elite level throughout the first time practices,” Norvell said of Travis earlier in the spring. “It was good for him to get a little bit of a different perspective. It was good to see those other guys get close to 40 reps, between 30 and 40 reps apiece. It was good. A guy’s around he doesn’t doesn’t really matter who’s taking the snap. You gotta go out there and play your best. So those are the challenges that are put in front of us and we did it.”
