The Florida State Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell have huge expectations after their 2022 season. The Seminoles finished off the year 11-3 with a victory over Oklahoma in the Cheez-Its Bowl. Still, one of their players, quarterback Jordan Travis, has already made his expectations known on what Florida State should be aspiring to accomplish this year. That is ending the season as national champions. And Norvell is all for those lofty expectations.

“The level that they have to push to perform to is their best, and that’s what we ultimately can control. I’m glad that our players do not put limits to what they can accomplish,” said Norvell during an interview on Always College Football. “But, on the flip side of it, none of that matters if you’re not willing to show up every day and continue to grow, continue to get better.

“It is truly a process, and I know you hear that a lot. But if we can improve, if we can get better, if we can become a closer team in all areas, I’ve got a lot of confidence in the team that I coach.”

Travis, who is entering his sixth college football season, had his best season last year. He finished the year throwing for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns, five interceptions, and completing 64 percent of his pass attempts. In 2023, Travis wants to build off of that stellar play all the way up to a national championship victory in January.

Norvell believes that his players have invested in their growth and development, and a national championship is not too far-fetched. And when it comes to putting in the work, Travis is the perfect example for Norvell.

“The young men and the investment that they’ve made throughout this journey; and I think Jordan is a great example of that, from where he was to where he is now. And I think he’s a great quarterback. I think he’s one of the best players in all the college football, and even with the success he had a year ago, he’s probably our most improved player.

“Going through spring ball, the sense of urgency, and in all aspects of his game to take it to another level. And if he can continue with that, if guys can continue to push with him, in that journey, I’m excited to what this team can accomplish and ultimately controlling the things that we have an opportunity to make an impact on.”
