Mike Norvell provides injury update on Johnny Wilson ahead of FSU vs. LSU
Mike Norvell shared an update on Florida State receiver Johnny Wilson during media today. The 6’6 redshirt sophomore hauled in a big, 51-yard reception in Week 0 but was injured on the play. It was his only production of the game with him coming out right after.
While he was mobile on the sideline after leaving the tent, Norvell said they wanted to play it safe with Wilson. It was a close call but the Seminoles staff decided to err on the side of caution.
“Johnny was definitely feeling better yesterday. It was one of those things in the game where it was close to see whether or not he could,” said Norvell. “He wanted to get back in there and he was moving around pretty well. Obviously we held him throughout the rest of the game.”
The injury could have an effect on whether or not Wilson is available for the Seminole’s game against LSU this Sunday. With the Tigers coming in as the favorite, Florida State will take everything they can get as far as firepower. However, Mike Norvell says they’ll continue to evaluate Wilson this week. While the fervor to get back in Saturday was there, they need to make sure he’s 100% before sending him back out this weeked.
“Yesterday it was a normal day after a game where you’re a little banged up but I’m excited to see how the progression of that goes.”

Mike Norvell gives update on Johnny Wilson, Duke Cooper
Mike Norvell offered an update on the status of Johnny Wilson after the receiver left Florida State’s 47-7 win over Dusquesne with an injury. The injury came on a 51-yard catch and run in the first quarter of the game.
Norvell said the they’ll monitor Wilson’s status through Sunday and make a further assessment then. He also shared more about cornerback Omarion ‘Duke’ Cooper, who missed the game with an injury.
“Yeah, you know, Johnny’s had a great, great fall camp and it was good to see that carry over. He made a big play on a vertical post. Came up a little ginger,” Norvell said in his postgame presser. “He got out there and kind of moved around. We’ll see where that goes as we get to tomorrow.”
