Mike Norvell provides update on Treshaun Ward’s status against Miami
Things are looking good for Florida State running back Treshaun Ward to make a return from injury this Saturday against in-state rival Miami. Head coach Mike Norvell spoke with media on Wednesday and explained that Ward is on track to play, barring any set backs.
Ward was the Seminoles leading rusher when he went down in Week 6 against North Carolina State and still is after two games and a week off. Getting him back is a boon for the Florida State offense, though Norvell was naturally coy about what Ward’s role might be or how many touches he might get.
“What that looks like? We’ll see. But I do believe that he’s trending the right way,” Norvell said.

Ward originally got hurt against the Wolfpack in the first half, eventually going to the locker room before reemerging with his right arm in a sling. Ward’s missed the past two games for Florida State — a loss to Clemson and a win over Georgia Tech, plus a bye week — and had subsequently posted a photo that appeared to show him in a hospital bed and surgical gown shortly after the injury happened.
Either way, Ward’s seemingly in line to get some work out the backfield for the Seminoles this weekend.

Between Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili, Florida State has capable runners in lieu of Ward — plus quarterback Jordan Travis is a fine rushing threat — but Ward was the choice lead back going in to the season.
While he might not be fully ready to resume that role against the Hurricanes, Norvell intimated that Ward will play on Saturday so long as there aren’t any setbacks.
“He looked good. It was good. He got in. As of right now, something negative would have to happen for him not to play and I feel very confident in where he’s heading,” Norvell said.
