Shortly after the addition of Tennessee receiver transfer Squirrel White, Florida State and coach Mike Norvell have released a statement about what he will mean for the program.

Suffice it to say, Florida State is anticipating White being a major contributor going forward.

“I’m so very excited about bringing Squirrel into our Nole Family,” Norvell said in a statement, according to Warchant.com. “He is one of the fastest players in the country and a truly dynamic playmaker.

“He will bring game-changing speed and explosiveness to the wide receiver room as well as the return game. Squirrel has been a productive player throughout his career and battled injuries last season but is ready to finish showcasing all of his talents here in Tallahassee.”

Squirrel White first emerged on the scene at Tennessee in 2022. As a freshman, he caught 30 passes for 481 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 16.0 yards per carry, proving to be an electric deep threat.

He would only build on that in his sophomore season, going for 67 catches for 803 yards and two touchdowns.

Squirrel White was limited by injuries this fall for Tennessee, though he still managed to have a productive season. He logged 34 catches for 381 yards and two touchdowns.

In total, the veteran wideout has tallied 131 catches for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns in his career. That’s the kind of production that gets you on the field right away, even at a place like Florida State.

And based on Mike Norvell’s statement, you can bet the Seminoles plan to utilize Squirrel White and his speed quite a bit within the offense. That’s something the ‘Noles have been searching for after graduating a tremendous receiver class following the 2023 season.
