Florida State and head coach Mike Norvell just got over the hump and finally toppled Clemson, and it happened on the Tigers’ home field.

After the game, ABC’s Molly McGrath caught up with Coach Norvell to ask about his team’s come-from-behind victory in overtime over the longtime throne-holders of the ACC. The Florida State coach knew it would be a heck of a war to win that one and credits his guys for sticking it out.

“What a response. And, you know, we talk about that all the time. These guys have incredible heart. I told them it was going to take 60 minutes, and going into overtime, it took a few more. But love what I saw from our guys. Never panicked, just continued to play. There were obviously some ugly moments, but they just continued to fight and did what they needed to do to get the win.”

Next, Norvell was asked to discuss the performance of QB Jordan Travis, who fought off injuries to both his shoulder and his throwing hand throughout the afternoon.

“I mean, he’s a winner,” said Norvell. “He’s just such a great leader for this team, you know. The way that our guys compete, the way they continue to push, this has been a hard-earned win, something we’ve been working for for four years. And just so proud to see our team come on the road and be able to get it done in a hostile environment.”

Lastly, now that FSU has beat Clemson and did so in Death Valley, McGrath asked Mike Norvell how he feels to take the ACC crown away from the Tigers.

“We’re going to continue on our climb,” said the FSU coach. “Every day, just try to get better, try to capitalize on the moments we get. I mean, these players, they work their tails off. But we got great guys, we got the right fit, right, and now it’s just continuing to take those positive steps where we’re going.”

Jordan Travis banged up in Clemson win

Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis dealt with multiple injuries as he led the Seminoles in a comeback effort vs. Clemson.

He’s down but not out. FSU QB Jordan Travis was already dealing with some left shoulder discomfort during Saturday’s game vs. Clemson when he hurt his right hand, according to ABC sideline reporter Molly McGrath.

McGrath joined the broadcast to report the following on Travis in the second quarter following Florida State’s first touchdown drive:

“Well, after that last drive, quarterback Jordan Travis came off the field with a right hand injury. He was bleeding from that hand and was in visible pain. He keeps shaking it out before going out. And that plus his left shoulder injury, you can tell Travis is frustrated with the pressure he’s facing.”
