This weekend, Florida State is getting ready to take on Clemson in a key ACC conference matchup early in the season. Ahead of that game, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell is already seeing a better sense of urgency with his team.

While meeting with the media this week, Norvell explained that the sense of urgency comes with how the team prepares throughout the week.

“I believe so,” Mike Norvell said. “It starts in the walk-throughs. It starts in the meeting room. Just your overall approach to what you bring to the day. I think the guys have done that. You can see they’ve got an edge about them, and that’s what I want to see, whether they’re completing with their position, competing against the other side of the ball, ultimately competing against yourself to leave the field better than when you came on it. So, I think our guys have done a nice job and we’ve got to go continue to get better.”

Clemson has beaten Florida State the last seven times the two have played. That includes last season, when the Tigers took a one-score game away from the Seminoles. There is also a good chance that this game dictates who plays in the ACC Championship Game this season, making it a vital game.

This year, Florida State is the favorite to win a close game. Despite that, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney knows anything can happen in this game.

“Hey, this is Clemson-Florida State, none of that matters,” Dabo Swinney said. “It doesn’t matter what the record is. It doesn’t matter who won last year, doesn’t matter what you’re ranked. This is a game where you better show up. You better show up and be ready.”

Jared Verse says FSU learned a lot against Boston College

Last week, Florida State struggled through a close game with Boston College last weekend. As star edge rusher Jared Verse explained, it was a lesson learned for FSU.

“I think it was definitely a lesson learned. You can’t look down on any opponent you go up against. Everybody has a hit out on us, they want to get us. Everybody has got something they want to prove against us. (Boston College) did that and we can’t let that happen again,” Verse said.

“We’ve got to go out there and play how we play. We’re a top team and we can’t let that ever happen again.”
