Mike Norvell shares injury updates on Jordan Travis, Johnny Wilson
If Florida State fans happened to tune into Mike Norvell’s press conference on Monday, they left with a smile. The FSU head coach provided positive injury updates on quarterback Jordan Travis and wide receiver Johnny Wilson.
“[Jordan Travis] is gonna be good,” Norvell said. “I feel really good about Johnny. He progressed really well over the weekend. I was able to get him reps in practice. I’m planning on having him rolling here throughout the week.”
Travis seemed to suffer a hand injury in the first half of FSU’s 41-3 win over Syracuse on Saturday. The mild injury didn’t prevent Travis from playing in the second half. In the victory, he tallied 284 passing yards and a touchdown while completing 23-of-his-37 pass attempts.
In six games this season, Travis boasts 1,482 passing yards and 13 touchdowns while only throwing one interception. While Travis’ injury didn’t cause him to miss any time, Wilson can’t say the same.
Wilson left FSU’s Week 6 win over Virginia Tech early in the second half with an injury. Although Wilson seemingly progressed the following week, he was out in the Seminoles’ most recent win over Syracuse. Now, the wide receiver is expected to return out wide.

Another challenge for FSU
Travis will welcome him with open arms. Wilson has 20 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns this season. Florida State will need to be at full-strength this weekend. On Saturday, the Seminoles will square off against No. 16 Duke.
Norvell has high expectations for his team.
“I want us to be better,” Norvell said after the team’s win over Syracuse. “I am grateful to be 6-0. I am so proud of this team for doing the things that were necessary to get to this point because you get one shot at it. One shot at each game. One shot at each play. Ultimately there have been plenty of moments in games where things haven’t gone exactly how we wanted to. We get a chance to showcase our response.
“You have to learn from it. We can’t make the same mistakes over and over and over again. Those are the things, it’s not about the teams we’re playing,” Norvell said. “It’s about us, about how we continue to push, to improve, making sure that that needs to be our ultimate focus. Next week, we’ll have another very talented team that is going to present all the challenges that they bring.”
