There have been a few changes to the college football recruiting schedule. Arguably, one of the biggest is the moving up of national signing day, which will now take place in December before the season officially ends.

With that change, programs have made adjustments to how they handle summer recruiting. During a recent interview on the Florida State Booster Tour, head coach Mike Norvell explained how important some are recruiting for the Seminoles with the new adjustments.

“Oh, it’s huge, especially with Signing Day moving up a few weeks, there in December; where there are not gonna be December official visits. It’s gonna be a big push in the summer officials,” Norvell said.

“We will have some fall official visits during the season this year, but we will have a good number of guys— probably anywhere between 30 to 45 official visits, depending on how things all play out. So I’m excited about the guys we have coming in; I’m excited about where we are in the process. It’s about being right… we’re continuing to gain information. As we’re continuing to showcase the vision and the plan that we have for these young men, it’s still about finding the best fit.”

With all the changes, it appears as if Norvell is going to have a very busy 2024 summer. But that is not going to take away from his excitement for the upcoming year of Florida State football.

Norvell: ‘It’s a great time to be a Florida State Seminole’

Norvell would also take some time to boast about the buzz around his program. To put it simply, in the eyes of Norvell, ‘it’s a great time to be a Florida State Seminole.’

“I think it’s a great time to be a Florida State Seminole,” said Norvell. “And I think our fan base sees the growth; they see the commitment, the alignment, the necessary push that we all have to embrace to continue to get this program to where we want it to be. So, there’s definitely a sense of excitement about all of it; it’s a lot of energy around our program.”

Unlike when Norvell first took over the reins at Florida State, there is ample buzz and excitement surrounding the program as it has improved season after season under his leadership. And with them just missing out on an opportunity to play for a national championship last year, along with the acquisitions to their already impressive roster, there is, even more, to be amped up about when it comes to the promise of Florida State’s future.

Florida State finished the 2023 campaign with an undefeated 13-0 record heading into selection Sunday. Unfortunately, the undisputed kings of the ACC were left out of last year’s College Football Playoff battle by the selection committee despite their unblemished record.

Norvell and company are looking to move past that injustice and 2024 and make sure there is no doubt in the minds of the committee of whether or not they belong in this year’s College Football Playoff field. And that will start on the second to last weekend in August as the Seminoles will travel to Ireland to face off against Georgia Tech.
