Mike Norvell: The results haven't been what we desire
Florida State has came a long way since beating the LSU Tigers on opening weekend. Going a bland 3-3 since then, head coach Mike Norvell was honest about his teams need to improve in a big way as the second half of the season rages on.
“I mean, it’s just set the tone today. It’s important. You can go through any experience – last week (34-28 loss to No. 4 Clemson) was critically important for our football team,” Norevell said Tuesday. “We’ve spent two days out here on the [pracitce] field, but if we don’t, we don’t come out and with the right mindset and the attitude to get better, you waste opportunities, and you’ll never be as good as you can be.
“The results have not been what we’ve desired. There’s been reasons for that, and it’s shown in all phases. Its things that everybody a part of this program can do and be better at. But when you’re willing to put in the work, when you’re willing to make some of those adjustments, whenever you’re willing to challenge yourself on a daily basis to get better – my expectation on Saturday is to see the best that this football team can play. If we can continue to improve throughout the course of the week, we will have a great opportunity to see that.”

Florida State’s 4-3 record isn’t indicative of the performances they’ve had, though. Climbing the ACC’s gauntlet in three weeks, the Seminoles were ranked No. 23 before losing three-straight games against ranked opponents in Wake Forest, NC State and Clemson in consecutive weeks. The Demon Deacons would win by 10 points, but FSU would fall to the Wolfpack and Tigers by a collective eight points.

Now, game day has arrived and it’s time for the Seminoles to put up, or shut up. Against a Georgia Tech team that FSU is favored by 23 points vs. as of Saturday morning, Florida State is expected to come away big with its fifth win of the season.
