Mike Norvell updates Florida State health following first scrimmage
Mike Norvell provided a positive update on Florida State’s health following his team’s first scrimmage.
Speaking with the media following the event, Norvell shed some light on some injuries the Seminoles sustained, but believed it to be all positive, and stating that Florida State was in a good place following the game.
That’s good news for Seminoles faithful. Florida State exited last season’s scrimmage a little banged up at some key positions, but it’s evident that’s not the case in 2023.
“It was good,” Norvell responded, asked about how he felt about the health of his team following the scrimmage. “A couple guys that, I don’t think anything serious, but I mean, just a couple things showed up, and I don’t think they’ll be very extensive, but definitely much better night tonight than we were a year ago, as far as overall health.”
Alas, Florida State has huge expectations for 2023. Many believe the Seminoles could even win the ACC this season. If they’re to reach their lofty goals, they’re going to have to stay healthy.
Thankfully, that seems to be the case at the moment. With only a couple of weeks until the season begins, Mike Norvell’s Seminoles seem to be racing on all cylinders, and ready to roll.

Continuing, Florida State was one of the big winners in the transfer portal, as Mike Norvell rounded out the roster. The Seminoles brought in multiple highly ranked transfers as they look to build off last season’s 10-win campaign.

But FSU also has plenty of talented returners, and Norvell said that shows the strength of the program.
Even with 13 fresh faces coming in via the portal, Florida State still has plenty of returning production back in the fold. That’s why Norvell said it’s important as the Seminoles try to keep the momentum going and integrate the newcomers into the culture.
“It’s huge,” Norvell said. “Guys that want to be here, they’re bought in to what we’re doing as a program and they also believe that they’re going to develop. These guys are great players, have had really good success throughout their career. They want to take another step. I’ve been really pleased with the work ethic, the desire. That’s encouraging to everybody, and you get one chance for a career.
“When you have guys that believe so much and who they get to do it with and know that they’ve got an opportunity to grow and get better — they all have big dreams and big goals. But they see this as a great step to where they want to ultimately get to.”
