Mike Norvell updates the health of Fabien Lovett, Treshaun Ward
Florida State coach Mike Norvell confirmed Monday that defensive tackle Fabien Lovett will be ready to play Saturday against Miami. Lovett returned to action this past week against Georgia Tech after missing the previous five games with a lower leg injury.
Lovett suffered another minor injury to his other foot against the Yellow Jackets, but was in good spirits when Norvell saw him the next day.
“Fabian came out really well,” Norvell said. “To be honest, there in the game, his other foot’s big toe got stepped on. So he wasn’t real comfortable, but it wasn’t anything to do with his other injury that he was coming off of. It’s good. I saw him yesterday when he was walking all gingerly on the other toe, but we kind of just smiled and were like, ‘All right, let’s go get it.’ But he’s gonna be great going into this week.”

But Fabien Lovett isn’t the only player that Mike Norvell provided an injury update on Monday. Norvell also addressed the status of running back Treshaun Ward, who sat out the past two games with an upper-body injury.

“Treshaun, he was more active yesterday,” the coach said. “We’re expecting him to be available. He did a lot there on Friday, just wasn’t ready to play in the game. So we’ll see where he goes throughout the course of the week.”
Ward currently leads the Seminoles backfield with 488 yards and three touchdowns despite playing in two less games than both Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili. He’ll hope to pick back up where he left off should he return against the Hurricanes.
Norvell also said the team will see how starting right tackle Jazston Turnetine progresses this week after he left Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech with an unspecified injury. The Seminoles and Hurricanes are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Miami.
