Mike Norvell updates health of Jared Verse after injury return
Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse was forced to miss the Boston College game with an injury that he suffered against Louisville. He was then able to play in the team’s loss to Wake Forest. However, Mike Norvell and Florida State were able to play him in only a limited number of snaps.
While speaking to the media after the game, Mike Norvell was asked to give an update on Jared Verse’s health and to speak about the impact of his performance.
“I think Jared, you know, he did a great job in working to rehab,” Mike Norvell said. “You know, really didn’t practice much, you know, throughout the week. Got a little bit out of him there on Friday.”

“You watched him move around, you know, we knew that if he was available–we didn’t know whether he was going to play until, you know, pregame, and he got out there moving around. You know, felt comfortable. Moved, you know, doctors, everybody felt comfortable and with the opportunity and, you know.”

SEC Championship game comments draw ire
Mike Norvell did want to emphasize that Jared Verse is still banged up. This is going to force Florida State to limit his snaps and action in practice. At the same time, Norvell has nothing but praise for Verse as a player and for the work that he’s put in.
“But, we’re gonna be limited with him. And, as the game went on, kind of let him gauge where he was and, but I thought he battled. He played extremely hard. You know, he’s a great player that has a great future in front of him as he continues to go. But, you know, I was definitely pleased with the work that he put in to make himself even available for today.”
Jared Verse was a transfer from Albany to Florida State. Originally, he was an unranked recruit in the Class of 2019.
