On300 Top 90 Lucas Simmons commits to FSU
Four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons of Stockholm, Sweden announced his commitment to Florida State Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 305 pounder chose the Seminoles over Tennessee, Florida, and USC.
Simmons on why he chose Florida State
“Florida state is home,” Simmons said. “I love FSU and the people in the program. Every time I leave Florida State I’m looking to book my next trip and every time I’m there I feel like home. Atkins and Norvell are people I trust to the fullest and I don’t see myself playing and getting developed under anyone else except them. I believe in the program, I believe in the coaches and players, and I believe that FSU will be what it once was.”
Lucas Simmons on relationship with coaching staff
“Coach Atkins is my guy,” Simmons said. “He’s the coach that I’ve gotten the closest with throughout my recruiting process. Norvell is someone I feel great about and someone I believe in.”
FSU will be back
“It’s going to take a lot of hard work,” Simmons said. “Things are moving in the right direction and they’re recruiting at a high level. If we all just do our part as players and coaches, Florida State will be back on top before long.”

Lucas Simmons Scouting Summary
“Developmental offensive tackle prospect with rare dimensions, movement skills and upside,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Originally from Sweden and came to the United States shortly after picking up football in high school. Measured over 6-foot-7, 293 pounds with a 6-foot-11 wing-span prior to his senior season. A nimble, light-footed mover. Moves to the second level with ease. Bouncy and carries his weight very well. Posed a 4.66 second shuttle prior to his senior season.”
“Undeveloped technically and still learning the game. Will need to hone his technical skills while continuing to increase strength and physicality at the point of attack. Will likely need some time to be ready to play considerable snaps at the college level, but has considerable physical upside. Very old for the class and will turn 20 years old mid-way through his senior year of high school.”
Simmons ranks as the No. 117 player in the On300 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 11 offensive tackle and the No. 26 player in the state of Florida.
