According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Florida State has found its next deputy athletic director and CFO. Josh Turner will take over the role, coming over from Georgia Southern. Turner does have some experience working in the state though, previously being at Miami.

“Sources: Florida State is finalizing a deal to hire Josh Turner as the school’s new deputy athletic director and CFO,” Thamel said via X. “Turner is the Senior Associate AD at Georgia Southern and worked as the assistant athletic director for business opps at Miami prior.”

Turner spent less than a year with Georgia Southern. He was originally hired in February 2024 and as Thamel mentioned, served as the Senior Associate AD. According to his official profile, Turner oversees human resources and is a sports supervisor for volleyball plus baseball.

Miami trusted Turner with running the football team’s budget, one of the largest in program history at $164 million. Facilities were upgraded while in Coral Gables too, something Turner was involved in.

All of the experience will now be brought and hopefully used well at Florida State. A nice hire for the school as they continue life in the ACC. Michael Alford will have somebody with a bundle of experience inside his athletic department

Leonard Hamilton, Florida State Seminoles preparing for cross country ACC trip

The Florida State Seminoles are preparing for a road trip to California to take on the ACC’s new California schools. Despite that long travel schedule, Seminoles head coach Leonard Hamilton isn’t making any excuses.

This comes in the first season where Stanford and Cal are members of the ACC, making for consistently difficult road trips in the conference. Still, Hamilton knows that the Seminoles need to go out there regardless of the challenge.

“Those of you who know we, we got to make it,” Leonard Hamilton said. “We’ve got to do it. I can complain. I can point out how tough it’s gonna be. We’re going commercial. We charter all the time. I could complain about a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day, we’ve got to go play those games. Most importantly, we’ve got to go win them. We want to go and come back with two victories and you’ve got to take them one at a time.”
