Robert Cooper explains what it means to him to end career with team on the rise
Robert Cooper has been through some tough times at Florida State, but now he’s enjoying the fruits of his labor.
The Seminoles defensive lineman spoke with the media about what it means to end his career with a team on the rise, and how special it is after going through so many hardships along the way.
“It’s been good,” stated Cooper, asked what it means to end his time at Florida State on a high note. “It’s something that I embraced every day.
“Like you said, I haven’t experienced this yet until this year, but just seeing how, what it’s supposed to look like. What it takes. It’s been a joy to see and be a part of.”
Continuing, Cooper spoke about what it means to help potentially lay the groundwork for the next era of success in Tallahassee.

“It’s pretty special when you think about it,” added Cooper. “Just knowing how big of a change it was from when I first got here. Freshman coming in and looking at it, this is how it’s supposed to be. This is the standard. Hopefully we did a good job of that, showing the young guys what it’s supposed to look like. How it’s supposed to be done, so they can keep on doing it every year.”
Alas, Cooper has been with Florida State since 2018, and has amassed 120 total tackles, three pass deflections and 2.5 sacks through his career.
In a time where athletes sometimes run to the transfer portal at the first sign of trouble, Cooper stayed with the Seminoles through it all, making it that much sweeter that he’s finally seeing the success he originally envisioned.
It’s always special when you make it to a bowl game, but it’ll mean that much more to Robert Cooper. Florida State takes on Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl on Dec. 29, and it’ll be the perfect way for him to end his time with the Seminoles.
