Tate Rodemaker’s father Alan Rodemaker said his son is feeling better but the Florida State quarterback is no guarantee to play.

The ACC Championship Game against Louisville is pivotal for the Seminoles’ playoff chances. A win and they could very well be in. Rodemaker is key in that regard.

But it’s still up in the air according to his father, who spoke to Mad Dog Radio’s Lance Medow Saturday morning.

“Alan Rodemaker (Florida St starting QB Tate Rodemaker’s father) just told me on (Mad Dog Radio) that his son is feeling better but still going through concussion protocol after taking a hard hit vs. (Florida) last (week),” Medow wrote on Twitter. “He assessed his chances of playing tonight in the ACC Champ Gm at ‘50-50.’”

In his nine games this year, including a start, Rodemaker is 32-of-56 passing (57.1%) for 510 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Rodemaker was a three-star recruit out of Valdosta (Ga.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 72 overall prospect in the state, the No. 48 quarterback in the class and the No. 684 overall prospect in the class.

There was no question there was an experience drop off from Travis to Rodemaker, but it’ll be on full display if the latter can’t go. Brock Glenn, a true freshman, is slated to start if Rodemaker can’t and threw just four passes this season.

If Glenn has to go, Florida State will surely be a bigger underdog against the Cardinals. Now if Rodemaker does go, it’s not like getting Travis back under center, but it’ll certainly help.

“Coming out of the game last week, you know, Tate obviously had the big hit there in the fourth quarter. Went over, was able to go through all of our sideline evaluations and was able to pass that to go back in the game for the last play that we had offensively,” head coach Mike Norvell said.

“Came in Sunday, had a few symptoms of things. We started our process then and worked through it throughout the course of the week. He has been able to practice throughout the week in limited spots. But that’s something that’s going to go up until game day and we’ll continue on with our process of evaluation and see where it goes from there.”
