Tate Rodemaker reportedly dressed out, warming up with Florida State teammates ahead of ACC Championship Game
The eyes of the college football world will be focused intently on who Florida State sends out to take snaps as the starting quarterback on Saturday night in the ACC Championship Game. And the answer to that question — be it backup Tate Rodemaker or third stringer Brock Glenn — will change the entire outlook for the Seminoles and the College Football Playoff race.
Before the game, Rodemaker apparently took the field to warmup with his teammates while wearing his uniform, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Matt Baker. Rodemaker, who started for the injured Jordan Travis in the regular season finale, is questionable for the ACC title game with a concussion.
Signs are not pointing to Rodemaker starting, though.
According to Warchant’s Ira Schoffel, noted Glenn and fellow quarterback A.J. Duffy took most of their snaps from the top two centers on the depth chart, Maurice Smith and Darius Washington. Rodemaker was taking snaps from a center further down the depth chart.
Florida State, sitting at 12-0, likely need to beat Louisville to ensure a shot at the College Football Playoff — and even then, without Travis, it could be a tenuous path.
Rodemaker didn’t make the start, but Florida State got the win
Mike Norvell has worked hard to get his squad back to this level and all of it paid off, taking down Louisville in the ACC Championship.
There was certainly some adversity to overcome, dating back to a few weeks ago. Travis went down with a season-ending injury, throwing Rodemaker into the fold. But he went down with a concussion in the rivalry game against Florida — leaving Glenn as the option.

While the offense was not pretty, Glenn was able to get the job done. He completed just eight of 21 pass attempts, throwing for 55 yards. Arguably most importantly, Glenn did not throw an interception and did not put Florida State’s defense in a tough position.
Defense — on both sides — was where the money was made. Florida State held Louisville to under 200 yards on offense — 188 yards, to be exact. Veteran quarterback Jack Plummer never got anything going and missed open throws all night. Pure domination from the FSU defensive line as well, limiting the Cardinals to 77 yards.
Back to the big picture, Florida State had not won an ACC Championship since 2014 when Jimbo Fisher was running the program. Between now and then, the Seminoles had four losing seasons.
While everyone might be thinking about tomorrow afternoon around noon, Saturday night is still a special moment.
