Everyone wants to know if Florida State will still make the College Football Playoff and, if so, if they even should. It’s a discussion with merit on both sides and one that Tim Tebow didn’t have many answers for.

Tebow took a look at the Seminoles’ position during a segment of ‘The Paul Finebaum Show’ on Friday in Atlanta. After seeing FSU live against Florida last weekend, he understands both stances considering their resume and eye test don’t necessarily line up anymore.

“I think this is a really, really difficult conversation,” admitted Tebow. “Let’s just say that they win tomorrow night and they perform well. You’re looking at a team that beat LSU, beat Clemson, and they’re undefeated. Then you also have to say, ‘Well, with the eye test, are they in the best four? I think, last Saturday night, they did not look like one of the best four when they played Florida.

“I think you would look at Texas right now, you could look at Alabama, you can look at Washington or Oregon and say, with the eye test, I think that they’re better,” Tebow continued. “But there’s a lot of weight put on conference champions – as there should be. There’s a lot of weight put on going undefeatedas there should be. That’s a very difficult thing to do.”

This is further complicated by the status of QB Tate Rodemaker, the team’s replacement for Jordan Travis. As of Friday, he is now a game-day decision for the ACC Championship against Louisville due to a head injury.

Still, no matter who plays quarterback for them on Saturday in Charlotte, Tebow says this all started to crumble from the moment that Travis suffered his injury.

“I’m not trying to be mean (to the other quarterbacks) but I really believe Jordan Travis is one of the best players in the country. I think he’s also one of the best leaders in the country,” said Tebow. “Without Jordan Travis? It’s not a knock to Tate and the rest of the team but they’re just not the same.

“If we’re really saying the best teams? It’s not the same team without Jordan that it was with Jordan. That’s to praise to kid and it’s not to knock the team. I just think it’s the reality of their situation.”

It doesn’t matter what any of us think, though. Depending on the outcome of their title game tomorrow, it’s all going to come down to what the selection committee thinks.

That’s why Tebow is going to leave the hard choices for them to make as he wants to see how they choose to handle Florida State and evaluate them depending on what happens inside Bank of America Stadium.

“This is going to be very interesting. If it does turn into chaos, does the committee have the courage, if they think it’s the right thing, to not have an undefeated team in?” asked Tebow. “I mean I have difficulty thinking through it myself and we’re just up here talking.

Could you actually not have an undefeated FSU, an ACC champion, in the College Football Playoff? If you step back and say, ‘On a neutral field, who are the four best teams?’ I think there could be an argument, depending on tomorrow night, that there’s a possibility it could be other teams.”
