Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill Five-Star Plus+ athlete Travis Hunter always has a flair for the dramatic. So, when it came time to celebrate Collins Hill winning the Georgia Class 7A state championship game, Hunter flipped out.

Travis Hunter – the No. 1 player in the On3 Consensus – had a big game helping Collins Hill win the state championship. He ended his prolific high school career with 10 catches for 153 yards, one touchdown and a forced fumble on defense in the 24-8 victory over Milton. It was Collins Hill’s first state championship.

Travis Hunter is a longtime Florida State commitment. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Hunter was one of the most heavily courted recruits in Georgia over the past decade. Despite some struggles on the field this season, Hunter has remained on board with the Seminoles.

Hunter is the crown jewel of the Florida State class that ranks No. 11 in the country and third in the ACC behind North Carolina and Clemson in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rank. However, the Noles are poised to finish strong and could be in a spot to bypass the Tigers and even the Tar Heels on Signing Day.

Travis Hunter a one-of-a-kind player

Travis Hunter idolized Deion Sanders growing up.

Hunter models his game and the way he carries himself both on and off the field much in the same way Prime Time did when he starred at Florida State and in the NFL.

“I bring a whole lot of intensity and talent,” Hunter said. “I want to be the next Deion Sanders. And I’m going to live up to it.”

Much like Sanders, Hunter is a two-sport star. However, instead of baseball, Hunter excels in football and as star point guard for the Collins Hill basketball team.

Hunter is coached in football at Collins Hill by Lenny Gregory, who started 39 straight games as a defensive lineman at BYU. While at BYU, Gregory was a two-time all-WAC selection.
