Report: Florida State WR Johnny Wilson declares for 2024 NFL Draft

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft. Wilson spent four seasons with the program but is now looking to make the jump to the next level.
Wilson has been a staple in the Florida State offense during his time in Tallahassee. During the 2023 season, the tall receiver caught 41 passes for 617 yards and two touchdowns. He only fell behind Keon Coleman in all of those categories, somebody who is also expected to declare for the NFL Draft.
Standing at 6-7 and weighing in just over 235 pounds, Wilson is going to be a matchup nightmare for any cornerback in the league. His size alone will make him a player that teams target in certain situations. Thamel said Wilson is already projected as a top-100 pick.
Declaring for the draft is just the beginning of the process, though. Wilson will still have the opportunity to impress scouts in multiple environments. First is the Senior Bowl, where Thamel reports Wilson will participate. He will be going up against other college football veterans in a camp-like setting.
Then there is the NFL Combine and eventually Florida State’s Pro Day. Teams, scouts, and general managers will get plenty of looks at what could wind up being one of the cycle’s top receivers.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.
The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.
Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.
The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
