Fresno State quarterback Mikey Keene plans to enter Transfer Portal
Fresno State Bulldogs quarterback Mikey Keene announced that he plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Mikey Keene played his high school football at Chandler in Arizona. There, he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 63rd-ranked quarterback and the 817th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.
“To my teammates, it’s been a great ride and I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else,” Keene wrote in part. “I will always have love for every one of you guys! With that being said I will be entering my name into the Transfer Portal with one year of eligibility left.”
Keene previously played for UCF. There, he appeared in 15 games and completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 2,377 yards and 23 touchdowns to seven interceptions. That largely came in a backup role and he transferred following the 2022 season to Fresno State where he had the opportunity to start. In 24 games over two seasons with the Bulldogs, Keene completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 5,868 and 42 touchdowns to 21 interceptions. He has a career passing yards per game average of 211.4 yards.

In his sophomore season at UCF, Mikey Keene only played in four games and was able to redshirt. Now, he’ll be moving on to his third school over the course of his college career with a season of eligibility remaining.
Prior to the 2024 season, Mikey Keene was one of the quarterbacks who was named to the Davey O’Brien Award watchlist.
Keene’s first season at Fresno State, 2023, saw the Bulldogs go 9-4 and win the New Mexico Bowl. That ended up being head coach Jeff Tedford‘s final season with the program, with health concerns forcing him to step away from coaching. He was replaced by Tim Skipper in an interim role and the Bulldogs would go 6-6 in 2024.
