Drew McKenna, a four-star small forward in the class of 2024, has committed to Georgetown. McKenna will also be reclassifying to the 2023 class and enroll this fall.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound junior out of Ellicott City (Md.) Glenelg Country School ultimately chose the Hoyas over Xavier and Butler. He also received offers from Illinois, Virginia Tech, Maryland, DePaul, Rutgers, Marquette, West Virginia, and others.

McKenna went in-depth on his commitment to the Hoyas with On3.

“I chose Georgetown because Ed Cooley is a very relatable coach,” he said. “He understands me and my family and he matches how hungry I am. I love the passion and integrity he has as a coach. I am from PG County, Maryland which is in the DMV about 15 minutes away from DC. I like his vision about taking the talent from the area to make Georgetown great again. I think I’m the player to help him do that.”

What type of player is Georgetown getting in McKenna, in his own words?

“I am a great all-around player. I am very versatile for my height and size. I am super skilled scorer that is a very tough player. I play the 2-4 and I impact the game and multiple ways. They are getting a tough basketball player who is going to do everything to win.”

McKenna has a message for Georgetown fans.

“I’m staying home and I’m ready to help bring the program back to greatness.”

Scouting Journal

“Drew McKenna has a lengthy frame, very fluid in how he moves. Runs the floor well. He has touch. Smooth looking stroke that is repeatable from multiple levels. Like to see him get stronger with the handle. Has some defensive upside, especially in the passing lanes. The jump shot was very nice.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

Johnson is the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 21 small forward in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Maryland.
