Odds on the first Georgia player to be picked in the 2022 NFL Draft

Defensive end Travon Walker -350

Walker is coming off of an impressive season with 33 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two passes defended, and one fumble recovery. He had 13 tackles for loss in his three-year collegiate career. In the latest mock draft by ESPN’s Todd McShay, Walker was the first Georgia player taken, and he was taken very early with the second overall pick by the Detroit Lions.

Defensive tackle Jordan Davis +275

Davis is a force on the interior part of the defensive line, and he proved that throughout his career at Georgia. Davis is coming off of an impressive season where he had 32 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass defended, and he excelled at stopping the run. Even though the stats might not jump out, Davis proved himself as one of the top defensive linemen in the NFL Draft, and he will undoubtedly be one of the first Georgia players taken. McShay had Davis going 19th overall to the New Orleans Saints.

Linebacker Nakobe Dean +1500

Dean was a three-year contributor for Georgia, and he has totaled back-to-back seasons with at least 71 tackles. This past year, he had 72 tackles with 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, two interceptions, five passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown. Dean and Utah’s Devin Lloyd are the clear top two inside linebackers in this draft class, and the Georgia product could go nearly anywhere in the first round. McShay projected Dean going 21st overall to the New England Patriots.

Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt +3000

Wyatt also played four years for Georgia, totaling 113 tackles in his collegiate career. This past season was his best yet, as he totaled 39 tackles with seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass defended, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Wyatt is right there with Davis as the top interior defensive linemen in the draft, and either could go right outside the top ten. McShay had Wyatt going 27th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Additionally, McShay has three other Georgia players going in the second round in his mock draft. Those players are linebacker Quay Walker (No. 38 – New York Jets), wide receiver George Pickens (No. 42 – Indianapolis Colts), and safety Lewis Cine (No. 43 – Atlanta Falcons).
