4-star IOL Dontrell Glover commits to Georgia: ‘We’re going to be one of those teams that nobody can stop’
Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star interior offensive lineman Dontrell Glover grew up a Georgia fan. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound recruit did not believe he would receive an offer from the Bulldogs, but he was happily proven wrong when head coach Kirby Smart extended one to him.
Glover originally chose Alabama before backing off his pledge to the Crimson Tide on Jan. 15. Florida State and Tennessee were also leaders for Glover at one point, but he felt best at Georgia and announced his commitment to the SEC program on Monday.
“Georgia became my top school when I decommitted,” Glover told On3. “When I decommitted, there were a lot of schools on me. I went to Georgia for a spring practice and I was right back at Georgia for the spring game. I could see myself playing in Athens, playing in Sanford Stadium and calling this place home.”
Glover believes that Georgia is headed for ‘big things’
Glover, who has visited the Bulldogs more than 10 times, knew he wanted to choose Georgia while on his official visit. The No. 35 player in Georgia enjoyed spending time with players such as Evans (Ga.) four-star interior offensive lineman Mason Short – a Bulldogs pledge – and before announcing his decision publicly, made sure to tell Smart and offensive line coach Stacy Searels the good news.
Multiple members of Glover’s family root for Georgia and he is excited that they can come watch him play games in Athens because the Bulldogs’ campus is around an hour-and-a-half away from Fairburn. Glover gets a “home feeling” at Georgia and believes the Bulldogs have something special that other programs do not have, which is why he is excited to help Smart and Co. chase national titles.
“I feel like Georgia is going to go above the moon,” said Glover, the No. 304 overall prospect and No. 22 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “We’re going to be one of those teams that nobody can stop. When I get there, we’re going to go for a national championship. I know that. When I get to Georgia, it is going to be a great place and we have a great chance to do big things.”
Smart and Searels made massive impressions on Glover
The way Smart built Georgia has impressed Glover. In addition to winning national championships, the Bulldogs under Smart have sent numerous players to the NFL.

That is a key reason why Glover chose Georgia, as he believes the program will give him a shot to make it to the next level. Smart holding his players accountable is another thing about the Bulldogs’ head man that Glover appreciates.
“Kirby Smart is a cool guy,” Glover said. “You can sense this by just being around him… Coach Smart constantly calls his players out in practice by their names and is building a good relationship with the players and their families.”
Glover has also grown close with Searels, who has been recruiting the four-star hard following his decommitment from Alabama. Since then, he has called Glover every day and checked in on his family.
Searels is currently coaching one of Glover’s former high school teammates in offensive tackle Bo Hughley. Ahead of his arrival in Athens, he knows what to expect from the Georgia assistant thanks to Hughley.
“Bo tells me everything,” Glover said. “Coaches are going to coach you hard if they want you to be great. If a coach doesn’t want you to be great, he probably won’t be on you. Coach Searels is not one of those coaches. He’s going to stay on you and make you compete every day in practice.”
