Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star running back Byron Louis was originally set to visit Ohio State this weekend, but there’s been a change in plans.

Instead of heading to Columbus, Louis will be at Georgia for the next two days, as first reported by On3’s Steve Wiltfong on Thursday and confirmed by DawgsHQ on Friday.

The Buckeyes have been one of Louis’ top schools, but after running backs coach Tony Alford left for Michigan and OSU hired Oregon’s Carlos Locklyn, things have shifted a bit in their pursuit of him.

Last month, Louis told Canesport that he was only considering Miami, Florida State and Wisconsin. But the Bulldogs, who offered him back in 2021, have remained in contact with him.

UGA already has a commitment from four-star Bo Walker, but is looking to add a second back to its 2025 class along with him. They were in heavy pursuit of four-star athlete Bo Jackson before he committed to the Buckeyes, and also are in contention for in-state four-star Ousmane Kromah. But Louis looks to be climbing up their board — and they his.

Louis has already taken official visits to both Miami and Wisconsin, and is expected to visit Florida State next weekend as well. After that, he’ll be in decision-making mode.

“After these official visits, I will go home, talk with parents, pray on this and decide which is the best school for me,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons last month. “I will take some time after that and not make an emotional decision.”

Louis talks top contenders

In that conversation with Simmons, Louis broke down why he’s still considering the Seminoles, Hurricanes and Badgers:

Florida State: “What stands out about at Florida State is how genuine the people are. They have great fans, great coaches and they make it known that I am wanted there. My old head coach, Pat Surtain is there now, and I talk with him, Coach Mike Norvell and YAC (David Johnson). I really appreciate how they recruit me.”

Miami: “At the end of the day, Miami is home. You can’t take anything away from that. Miami produces the best, they have a great the staff and I how the staff has a lot of connections to the school. Some of their coaches played there, some went to school there and some are from there. I like that.”

Wisconsin: “Have you seen their offensive line? They have size. If I go there it would be like I was running behind the Great Wall of China. Coach Devon Spalding is one of the smartest coaches I talk to too. It is always great chopping it up with him. They have a great staff, a big offensive line and Wisconsin gets the ball to their backs.”
