Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott is taking four official visits this month. He began those trips this weekend with an official to Georgia.

Scott is currently on his first visit to see the Bulldogs. His top connections in Athens are with head coach Kirby Smart, defensive line coach Tray Scott and Director of Recruiting Relations David Cooper.

“Honestly, I want to see what they have to offer,” Scott told On3’s Chad Simmons on May 1. “I already mess with their coaches heavy. Coach Scott, coach Coop and coach Kirby, I already have really strong relationships building there. I want to see what they have to offer me as far as life after football, NIL, the development plan and see what they have in store for me.”

Scott is the No. 8 overall prospect and the No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Additionally, he is the No. 1 player in Illinois.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound recruit shared with Simmons that five schools are standing out to him: Georgia, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Ohio State and Notre Dame. Later this month, the Wolverines (June 9), Hurricanes (June 16) and Buckeyes (June 23) are hosting him for official visits.

“I definitely have high interest,” Scott said. “I communicate with those schools the most out of all of them and I have the strongest relationships, the best relationships with their coaches.”

Regarding Georgia, the Bulldogs currently have the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Multiple five-stars are currently in Athens for their official visit, including Scott, Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle Five-Star Plus+ quarterback and Georgia commit Dylan Raiola and Saint Louis (Mo.) St. Louis University five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo.

Scott discusses his interest in four other schools

Miami: “That was a huge visit,” Scott said of his visits on April 11 and April 13-14. “When I was there, I felt more comfortable spending consecutive days there and being around the same people, the coaches.”

Michigan: “This recruiting class that they’re putting together,” Scott said about what is standing out to him about the Wolverines. “Seeing them get all these top recruits in Jadyn DavisBlake Frazier, all these guys in the 2024 class, I’m seeing that they’re definitely building something special there and that’s something that I can be a part of.”

Notre Dame: “It is an easy trip for me and my family to Notre Dame, so I may not take an official visit there,” Scott said. “I can get there easily and I already know a lot about them. The coaches know me and my family, I feel good on campus and they have a lot that I like. Coach Chad Bowden, coach Marcus Freeman, coach Al Washington – they all make me and my family feel at home. I know I am a priority for them and I can go there any time.”

Ohio State: “Just being able to be coached by Larry Johnson because he’s considered one of the best d-line coaches to ever coach in college football,” Scott said about why he likes the Buckeyes.
