Anthony Edwards sends message to Carson Beck, Georgia ahead of SEC Championship Game

Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards scored 30 points and had 9 assists Friday night to lead Minnesota to a 107-90 win over the Warriors. Afterwards, the former Georgia star joined SportsCenter and was asked about the win, as well as Georgia’s upcoming SEC Championship Game against Texas.
Edwards was asked in particular what his message was for the Bulldogs ahead of the game.
“You know who I got. You know who I got,” Anthony Edwards said. “Hey, Carson Beck, Carson Beck, do your MFing thing, boy, you hear me?” Do your thing. Lets go on and get the win.”
Edwards has had moments where he has not filtered his language, so the SportsCenter anchor was thankful he chose to Friday night. Edwards made it clear who he wants to win and what he wants to see from Carson Beck.
Anthony Edwards is a former five-star recruit from Atlanta who played at Georgia in the 2019-20 season, before being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.
He is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, having already made the All-Star game twice. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals last season and was named All-NBA second team.
Nick Saban stresses ball security for Carson Beck in the SEC Championship
As Anthony Edwards said, Carson Beck will need to play well for Georgia to beat Texas and win the SEC Championship. Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Nick Saban spoke about Beck while on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’.

“Well, I think Carson Beck is a really good quarterback,” Saban said inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday. “You’ve heard me say this a hundred times before. The players around you have to play well. He’s had a lot of drops. He forced some balls, probably. Receivers don’t separate as well as they did a year ago when he had some better guys, mismatch guys. So he’s had a little more to overcome.
“I think he’s had an opportunity, also, to prove that he can do it if he doesn’t have better players around him. So, that, maybe, he didn’t do as well as he could.”
So, with that, Saban says protecting the football will be Beck’s job against Texas in the SEC Championship on Saturday. In each of the five games this season that he has had a turnover, he has had multiple with anywhere from two to four.
“I do think, when he hasn’t turned the ball over? You know, Georgia has lost four times. Every time they’ve lost in the last however many years – they lost four games. They’ve lost the turnover battle,” Saban said. “This year, how many turnovers did they have against Alabama? How many did they have against Ole Miss? I mean, it’s the same thing. So taking care of the ball is really important. So, if you can win first and second down, you don’t put as much pressure on the quarterback on third down to take care of the ball.”
