Booger McFarland: Georgia is the 'Samsung' of college football
LSU legend and current ESPN commentator Booger McFarland has a unique take on the Georgia Bulldogs football program. Georgia has been a quality program over the past five years, and McFarland knows that. That’s why he compared them to global tech giant Samsung.
On an episode of the ESPN College Football Podcast, this is how the LSU legend articulated his unique comparison.
“Samsung has tried for years to be the best,” Booger McFarland said on Wednesday’s ESPN College Football Podcast. “But in my mind — this is just my opinion — they haven’t topped Apple. Apple has achieved a level of greatness and a level of productivity and innovation that Samsung yearns for. They do everything to try to mimic it to get over the hump, but they haven’t so far.
“And so the perception is always Apple is greater and Samsung is right beneath. It’ll be the same way if Georgia can’t beat Alabama.
“Good product, very good, a lot of people use it, but is it the best, most would say not.”
McFarland does temper it by stating that it is his opinion. Unfortunately for Georgia, Alabama’s dominance over them in recent years it’s not an opinion but a harsh reality. Like the comparison, McFarland used, the Bulldogs would love to assume the top position over the Crimson Tide, like Samsung, has done to Apple four the past five years.

SEC championship tickets more valuable than CFP tickets
Monday’s national championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs is the hottest ticket around. The game will be a rematch of the December SEC championship game where the Crimson Tide upset the then No. 1 Bulldogs 41-24.
It should go without saying that tickets for this game will come at a hefty price point. Currently, the cheapest ticket price on secondary markets for the national championship game is $418. That price tag should come as no surprise to those still hoping to get a seat. But what is surprising is that the secondary market price it’s cheaper than that of the SEC championship game that happened a month ago. The website TicketIQ shows just how great the discrepancy in price is, with this post.
The first time around Georgia had their hands full trying to slow down Alabama quarterback Bryce Young. Young had a record-setting night tonight for the Crimson Tide in a number of ways. In the first half, he set the SEC Championship Game record for most passing yards in the first half with 286. Near the end of the game, he set the all-time passing yardage mark in the SEC Championship Game with 421 passing yards. Young completed 26 of his 44 pass attempts for 421 yards, while tossing in three touchdowns and no interceptions.
