Georgia picked up a seven point win over Kentucky on the hardwood on Saturday, something of a rarity for the Bulldogs. And forward Braelen Bridges had a good way of describing it.

Saturday’s 75-68 win over the Wildcats was just the second Georgia victory over Kentucky in men’s basketball in the last 10 years. It’s something Bridges always hoped to get to do.

“It feels good. It’s something you dream about, playing against Kentucky. Just getting a win against them is a big accomplishment. John Calipari is a great coach with a lot of pros, so it’s a good win,” Bridges said.

Mike White opens up on what win vs. Kentucky means to him, Georgia locker room

After the win, White gave a shoutout to Kentucky’s skill and toughness as they battled injury on their end — but wanted to make sure it didn’t take away from his team’s accomplishment in the matchup.

While speaking with media members postgame, White was asked about the team’s excitement level in the locker room and how it felt to watch them earn a tough win at home.

“Very. Very,” answered White. “It’s been a tough stretch for us, you know? The environment at home’s been great, our record at home’s been good and we’ve played well at home and we had a couple we didn’t quite take advantage of down the stretch of course. And that’s the SEC, right? That’s what it is. And to bounce back like this at home against a very good team, it’s great for our guys.

“Our guys work. We prepare well. I thought we prepared really well going in the Ole Miss game and prepared equally as well today. Probably played a little bit better. But again, Ole Miss had a lot to do with that the other day too. These guys will continue to work, we’ll be ready to go tomorrow. But that said, it doesn’t matter… you know, records, programs, the names on jerseys… I mean, all these teams are really good. And we’ve gotta continue to get better.”

The Bulldogs will look to close out a three-game home stand with a positive record as they host LSU on Valentine’s Day next week. From there a tough road test against Alabama and Arkansas awaits as they attempt to move back into the positive side of the win column after a tough past month.
